Melodic Range
What is Melody?
Melody is one of the most basic elements of music. A note is a sound with a particular pitch and duration. String a series of notes together, one after the other, and you have a melody. But the melody of a piece of music isn't just any string of notes. It's the notes that catch your ear as you listen; the line that sounds most important is the melody

What is melodic Range?
Melodic range is the distance between the lowest and highest notes in a melody. Music is all it takes to find the highest and lowest notes in a melody. You can also measure melodic range by picking out the melody on an instrument.

What are the different kinds of Melodic range?
Give example for each.
Different kinds of Melodic range are wide range and narrow range.

   1. Wide range is when there are a large number of notes between the lowest and highest pitches for example, the "Star-Spangled Banner".
   2. Narrow range is when there only a few notes separate the lowest and highest pitches for example some rock songs.
   3. Normal range is a melody with a range of about an octave.

Why is Melodic range important in music?
Because melodic range is use in every kinds of music. It makes music and songs become different and attractive. If don’t have melodic range the melody will be the same and very boring.

What are the different directions and dimensions of melody?
The different directions in music are ascending, descending and repeating.
    1. Ascending melody may be associated with dignity, serenity, tension, and happiness, further with surprise, fear, anger and potency.
    2. Descending melody may be associated with expressions like exciting, graceful, vigorous and sadness further with boredom and pleasantness.
    3. Repeating music keeps repeating itself.

The progression of melody
Progression of melody is the changes of melody/note during the song.
