For the vast majority of you, until this moment, I did not exist. But now, here I am!
By some strange miracle, I have entered your life. Right now, in one sense (the sense of sight, actually) I am touching you. Since I'll only be around for as long as you'll have me, let's see if I can make an impact.
Here you will find words that represent the cumulative experience of my lifetime, focused on a theme. It is a one-track experience of the complexity that is me. You actually get to experience a side of me that is organized, literal, and maybe more cogent and potent than you'd find if we actually met in person!
These words are merely vehicles that have sprung from my name and history. They have no value unless you use them, unless they take root inside you and then flower. In order for that blooming to occur, somehow I must lure you into an experience of connection with something I represent.
Your willingness to go where I may lead you is based on a form of trust that you're building with me. That is accomplished by you being offered enough of the familiar so that our first step is a movement from common ground. But it also involves keeping the unfamiliar to a minimum so that a stretch for you feels more like reaching out a bit further than dislocating your shoulder.
At the point at which something I say has personal meaning to you, or intrigues you, or even shocks you, I become more real to you. But, since you're the only one of us physically in this room, I can only be as real as the things that live inside of you that I reflect.
The longer you keep reading this article, and the longer you allow it to have an effect on you, the longer I live inside of you. As you read more, if I'm doing my job, you'll learn more about both of us. In fact, by now, I am part of the experience of your life, even if you go to another page this instant!

I'm now wondering to myself, "If I'm going to follow through on this theme, I have to find some way to reflect you back to yourself. How could I possibly do that from here?"
On my end, I can try to put my experience into words that make absolute sense to you, but, honestly, I don't have a clue of what works for you. The best I can do is to go about exploring this life that I am a part of and finding the words to explain it to myself.
That's what we're both doing now. In fact, that's all any of us are doing. We are all grappling to make sense of this Great Whatever and each of our tasks is to put it all into a form that we can use. If we take the time to share, then other people get to benefit from our experiences, too.
But the truth is, the only way that will happen is if we start building bridges between us. And the way to do that is to first look for something that lives inside the human experience we're both going through.
As I search for symbols and concepts that fit the puzzle that is me, and filter them through my intention to serve you, I am almost inexorably drawn to find something that we can both relate to, and so I begin with birth.
