Scarborough was Britain's first seaside resort and has been welcoming visitors for over 360 years. Scarborough has both a North Bay and South Bay each divided by a rocky headland. Both the North Bay and South Bay provide clean, sandy, accredited beaches with no rocky outcrops or other dangers. High up on the headland that divides the bays are the remains of the 11th century Scarborough Castle.

Scarborough's South Bay Beach is fronted with amusements, cafes, arcades, theatres and other entertainment facilities. Located at the southern end of the beach is Scarborough Spa Complex, known to the local people as The Spa. This grade II listed Victorian building features a Grand Hall that seats almost 2000 people and host numerous live events, a 600 seat Victorian theatre used for shows and pantomimes and an Ocean Room that's used for dances, conferences and other events.

In the past Scarborough had five Victorian Cliff Tramways but two have now been closed down. The remaining three tramways operate up and down the cliff side to this very day and are open between May and October. In the past these tramways were originally powered by water balancing and steam engines but have been converted to use electricity in modern times.

Scarborough's North Bay is very different to that of the South Bay. While the North Bay beach and South Bay beach are similar the North Bay itself is only fronted by relatively steep grassed embankments. A road called Marine Drive, originally built in the Victorian era, sits at the bottom of the embankments and joins the North Bay with the South Bay. This road is closed during rough seas and when the tide is in as it's possible for cars or people to get washed in to the sea.

At the northern end of the North Bay it's possible to find Peasholm Park. Peasholm Park is a natural glen with a small river running through it that culminates in to a lake. It's possible to take one of many tranquil walks around the park or even hire a boat or pedalo and take a trip around the lake. Peasholm Park has an oriental theme and it possible to find many rare and unusual plants, flowers and trees around the park.
