hollaback มีที่มาจากการเชียร์ของเหล่าสาวๆ เชียร์ลีดเดอร์ที่จะตะโกนซ้ำ (holler back) คำที่หัวหน้าทีมเชียร์ตะโกนมาก่อน พอนึกภาพกันออกไหมเอ่ย ปัจจุบัน คำว่า Hollaback girl ถูกใช้หมายถึง หญิงสาวที่ไม่เป็นตัวของตัวเอง คอยทำตามที่ผู้ชายบอกให้ทำ พอเค้าบอกอะไรก็ทำตาม (holla back) นั่นเอง
คำนี้คอเพลงสากลอาจจะคุ้นหูกันดี เพราะเป็นชื่อเพลงดังเพลงหนึ่งของ Gwen Stefani ในเพลงนี้สาวเกวนเค้าเลือกใช้ศัพท์แสงเชียร์ลีดเดอร์มาเปรียบเทียบค่ะ เพื่อบอกว่า เธอน่ะเป็นผู้นำและก็เป็นนักสู้ด้วย ไม่ใช่เป็นผู้ตามนะจ๊ะ
เพิ่มเติมอีกนิดหนึ่งค่ะ คำว่า hollaback คำเดียวเดี่ยวๆ นี้เป็นคำที่ใช้เวลาจะแยกจากกกับคู่สนทนาของเรา เพื่อบอกว่า please respond, please reply, please come back, please call me. คือให้ติดต่อกลับมาด้วยนะ ได้ด้วยค่ะ
