Suki Waterhouse arrived at the Burberry show in a chunky parka over a little lace dress, with a backpack slung over her shoulders. “I’m going for a geek chic look,” she said. “I do have a big inner geek. It gets forgotten about sometimes but it’s definitely there. I’ll geek out over cameras a lot, I have a big collection of cameras. I geek out about them and apertures and stuff like that. I’ve got a Mamiya, a Yashica, a Minolta, a bunch of little 35mm ones. I’ve even got one in my backpack.”
Alexa Chung had just come from the Erdem show, where she’d been Snapchatting the show for the brand, a role she has previously undertaken for Gucci.
Just down the front row, past Naomi Campbell, Lily Donaldson, Ellie Goulding, Tali Lennox and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, was Elisa Sednaoui, who had just returned from a trip to Lebanon to visit refugees from the crisis in Syria as part of her new role with the United Nations refugee agency.
“It was my first mission with the U.N. And I was there with my husband and it was good for him to see it. We visited a type of informal settlements, tents, the apartments where the refugees live,” she said. “Actually, we met a family who had been granted resettlement in the U.K.; I’m looking forward to welcoming them here when they arrive. I met a 28-year-old woman — my age — with five children who hadn’t seen her husband in four years; she doesn’t even know where he is.
“It is overwhelming when you come back and feel very helpless,” she continued. “I’m promoting the idea of private sponsorship for resettlement, which means for people who are really vulnerable, you sponsor them and take responsibility for them — help them to integrate.”
Also in the audience were Samantha Cameron, Caroline Vreeland, Jack Guinness, Olivia Palermo and Harley Viera-Newton.Read more at:cheap prom dresses | prom dresses 2016
