History of License Number Plate Auction

The license number plate auction has started from August 2003 by Department of Land Transport (DLT). DLT selected 301 lucky numbers in each 2-alphabet code, and divided two days, Saturday and Sunday
For Bangkok, auction is in the 2nd and 4th week of the month; Chonburi and Chiang Mai are auctioning twice per year, Nakhon Ratchasima, Nakhon Pathom, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya and some provinces once per year. Some provinces are not deciding.
The first group is all same 4 digits, the prize starts at 1,00,000 Baht; the second group is single digit, same few digits and 8 and 9 pairs, the prize starts at 30,000 Baht; the third group is not included from 2 groups, the prize starts at 5,000 Baht.
After the number auction has finished, the winner have to pay the service Charge from 500 to 5,000 Baht.
DLT has recorded the final prize in Bangkok is higher than 1 Crore Baht since 2012. So, Bangkok is the Crorepati of the license number plate auction, and now has 6 Crorepati number plates in 5 streak years.
The current of the most expensive license number plate is 1AA-1111 Bangkok, the prize is 2 Crore 50 Lakh Baht (2,50,00,000), that is auctioned in March 2014, and that is the fourth Crorepati.
