You've been planning for months and months to make everything just the way that you'd imagined. You've picked the ideal location, found the right dresses for the bridesmaids, found the perfect chef, narrowed down the guest list, and put almost everything in order. "But what flowers to choose?" you ask yourself.

Two of my favorite orchids to use for centerpieces are Cymbidium orchids and Cattleya orchids. Cattleyas can grow huge, beautiful flowers that really stand out. I like to minimize the amount of flowers that I pair with Cattleyas because they are so bold. Cymbidiums are also very popular and have wonderful shape and color. Both of these flowers can offer very pleasant fragrances. I recommend smelling all of the flowers you plan on using at the table centerpieces beforehand because of allergen concerns for your guests.

There are two other great ways to incorporate orchids into your wedding. The first is as an adornment to your wedding cake. You can use these around the sides, on the top of the cake, or both. I recently went to a wedding where this was beautifully executed.

The other way to incorporate orchids is to use them as lapels for the gentlemen. While white and red roses have been common in lapels for years, consider using a single white Phalaenopsis orchid. This bold orchid looks fantastic on the gentlemen.
