‘Kids’ campaign $4K short as shopping day nears

เขียนโดย deklulu

With only hours left until Tullahoma children go shopping Monday for the wholesael boutique clothing they need to keep warm this winter, The Tullahoma News’ Karing for Kids campaign is just about $4,000 shy of its $20,000 goal.

Following four generous donations of $500 each from Metropolitan Escrow, Life Care Center of Tullahoma, Tennova Healthcare – Harton and Dr. Mainuddin Ahmed, the Karing for Kids bank jumped to just under $16,000 this week, landing at roughly 79 percent of goal.

As of Friday morning, Nov. 30, Karing for Kids had collected $15,790.29, though donations were still being accepted.

According to program coordinator Debbie Wimsatt, anyone who would like to make a last-minute donation is encouraged to do so.

“We will take donations right up until we go shopping,” Wimsatt said.

With the monies raised, 200 children selected from each of the city’s four elementary schools will visit participating stores – including JCPenney, Burkes Outlet, Peebles and Walmart – to find deals on warm winter coats and shoes.

If the campaign reaches its $20,000 goal, each child will have $100 to spend and a volunteer to assist them in finding the best deals.

After shopping, both children and volunteers will enjoy a free pizza party at Northgate Mall thanks to donations from Coco-Cola, Domino’s and Papa John’s Pizza.
