The Great Barrier Reef in 3-D maps

เขียนโดย fahummeenudmin
Scientists have produced 3-D digital maps of the Great Barrier Reef, charting all 135,000 square miles of the vast underwater ecosystem. The maps provide a complete picture of the world's largest expanse of coral reef, including images of individual reefs, lagoons and reef flats. Researchers believe the maps will assist to reduce threats to the reef, including from crown of thorns starfish. "If you can understand how larvae interacts and flows in and around coral reefs, you stand a better chance of understanding where that larvae travels to and of course predicting where the next outbreak goes," said Dr Robin Beaman, from James Cook University.
