The company currently operates 48 points of sale across the country and launched its online venture in India in 2016 to increase its reach. It sells apparels, shoes, bags, belts and sunglasses for men, women and children and is popular for its polo T-shirts in solid colours.
India was the fifth market after Korea, Japan, China and Australia where the French lifestyle brand launched its own website. At least 18 metro and Tier 1 cities in India have the presence of the label with Sports and Leisure Apparel Ltd. owning its distribution rights.
The expansion will be majorly carried out in Tier 1 cities of the country; however, locations in Tier 2 will also be given the priority this time.
In another development, the French polo t-shirt brand Lacoste replaced its iconoclastic crocodile logo with the newly minted logos of 10 critically endangered species for the limited edition range. This is the first time in Lacoste’s history of 85 years that the brand will be playing around with its well-known logo.
Aptly titled ‘Save Our Species’, the animals being featured in the collection range from the Javan rhino, Burmese roofed turtle, the Anegada ground iguana, to the Saola, among others.
