So an aquatic garden isn't always as simple as filling a tub with water and throwing a few plants on top. But the results you achieve can be quite stunning.

For artistic types, you can paint a matching design on your Adirondack chair and on the flooring of your wood deck. The repeating element could be as detailed as a scene or as simple as a small motif. Remember to buy paint specifically formulated for outdoor use. Depending on the material and your budget, you might also want to consider a primer and a clear top coat to protect your designs.

Color may also be your ticket to draw attention to your Adirondack chair. For easy color coordination, you can select a set of chair cushions or pillows that matches a line of solid color stoneware. Use large bowls or pitchers from this line of dishes as planters or vases for flowers. Or, if you prefer non-gardening accessories, use a platter or flat dish as the base for a candle garden. Choose three or four candles (or however many your dish can hold) in a similar style but different heights. Arrange these candles on the platter and fill the gaps with a few natural rocks, marbles, or colored plastic stones.
