Feed-Through Terminal blocks Manufacturers, or FBT as it is also known, is a cost effective and high speed method of food processing. They offer the benefits of traditional vacuum tube processing, without the requirement for a large space or a lot of man power. They are very common in Europe and Japan, but are becoming more widespread in the USA due to their ease of use. F BT's are made from material such as polyvinyl chloride (PVC), but can be adapted for use with many different types of plastics and other types of chemicals.
A typical F BT consists of three insulated layers. The innermost layer is made of PVC which is then covered with a suitable membrane. This layer, the outermost one, is made from an inert material and is designed to prevent the contamination of the innermost layer of PVC.
Feed-through terminal blocks are used for a variety of purposes including making plastic bags, softening hard cheese, crisping, freezing, smoking and many other processes. They are usually used in food preparation, but can also be found in tobacco and pharmaceutical production plants. They are available in a wide range of sizes. Some are available in single units, which can fit into standard size hole punching machines, but larger models are often made available on request. Some are small enough to be incorporated directly into the equipment running through a plant, while larger ones are towed along on casters.
The most common feed-through unit is an automated system which feeds plastic strips down a chute or tube, which channels the product through a series of tunnels and feeders. This method has the advantage of providing consistent product delivery and consistent results. It is also simple and less costly than other manufacturing techniques. Plastic feed-through Terminals are generally smaller than other forms, but there are also some which are as big as a wall or room.
