Cedar Park Texas Flowers

Have you ever wondered what makes a golf course popular? Is it the presence of world class golfers there or the challenging courses it has? Or perhaps it's the natural scenery that makes the game more enjoyable? Whatever the reasons, here are some famous golf courses designed by renowned golf developers in the world:

The Royal Calcutta Golf Club in India was founded in 1829 and is the oldest golf club in the world outside Great Britain. It got its royal status from King George V in 1911. It may look easy but the golf course is quite long - nearly 7,200 yards - from the back tees and has a lot of water hazards. In the past, the golf course also had a fair share of kraits - small, deadly snakes that were sometimes found on the fairways.

Originally located in the Dum-Dum area of Calcutta, where the international airport is now located, the golf course was later moved to Tollygunge. It rests just a few feet above the River Ganges. Since 1892, the Indian Amateur Championship (one of the oldest championships in the world) has been held there.

Another famous golf course can be found in Augusta, Georgia. This was suggested by New York banker Clifford Roberts and the course was laid out by Alister Mackenzie in the 1920s. It has spectacular flowering shrubs that line the fairways and which give each hole its name. Augusta is considered by many as the most exacting course but it can be enjoyed by the average player as well.

The course is best known for its 11th, 12th and 13th holes that were called the "Amen Corner" by the American golfing writer Herbert Warren Wind. He advised a quiet word with the Almighty to help players make it through these holes.
