Wild Flowers Wisconsin

I recently visited a local cemetery to take some photos with my new digital camera. I couldn't believe my eyes when I walked through this small, local resting place. There were so many tombstones that had been knocked over, laying on the ground or just disregarded for years. Many of the tombstones were for people who had already been gone over 100 years, but I couldn't help thinking that these people probably still had family members who certainly couldn't be aware that the forefathers were resting in such deplorable conditions.

The cemetery itself had been mowed and it is in a very rural area, so I don't think that vandals had been at work- I just think the grave sites had been forgotten and neglected. I hope my family doesn't forget me like that. We are so careful to plan our funerals, order flowers, write eulogies, etc..., but it seems that no one thinks about the AfterCare of the grave site. I decided that I had to do something. The first thing I did was contact my family members to find out where my own ancestors are buried. I guess I wasn't any better then the folks who forgot about their loved ones in that local cemetery. Secondly, I decided that there is a great need for a service that visits grave sites for those who can't due to physical disabilities, being relocated, etc... I came up with the idea to start a Grave Site Visit Service to bring comfort to those who can't visit their loved ones themselves.

The next time you are out for a Sunday drive with your family, please take a few minutes and visit your local cemetery. There are people resting there who may not have had visitors in a very long time. Take a moment to say a little prayer and wipe the leaves and grass trimmings from their headstone. Their family will appreciate it.
