Materials you need: 50cm of 112cm - - wide cotton drill Assorted scraps of fabric for applique Fusible webbing Thread 40cm square cushion insert

Finished size: 40cm square Note: 1 cm seam allowance is included

Method: Cut one 42cm square of fabric for cushion front. Press fusible webbing to back of fabric pieces for flower appliques. Using a photocopier set at 200 per cent, enlarge flower shapes, leaves and stems (on facing page) and cut in fabrics as desired. Remove paper backing and position pieces on cushion front. Iron in position.

Using narrow machine, satin-stitch (close zigzag), stitch around each shape using matching threads. Cut two 42 x 32 cm rectangles for cushion backs. Stitch a 5cm hem on one long edge of each back piece. Place backs and front, with right sides facing, overlapping hemmed edges of backs so back fits front. Stitch around cushion, trim and neaten seams and turn through. Fill with insert.

Materials you need: Fusible webbing scrap- scarps of cotton fabric for applique- хэнд towel- matching threads.

Method: Draw a heart pattern and trace it. Apply fusible webbing to wrong side of fabric scrap and cut out heart shape. Peel away backing paper and fuse heart to a corner of the хэнд towel. Machine stitch around heart - - use a narrow satin-stitch (close zigzag).
