Jasmine Flowers Meaning

I have never posted or submitted a personal letter to a public forum before but since I received such positive feedback from the email below that I thought I should share it beyond my circle of friends. I believe the thoughts and advice in this letter can benefit everyone. I hope you find it of interest and that it helps you put things into perspective.

Hey Gang,

Something a little serious here, something to make you think, and something I have written about many times in the past. This whole email is titled Life's Lesson. The theme - never take for granted a friend or loved one will be around forever. Stay in touch and keep the friendship secure.

My Neighbor

My neighbor Mrs. Henderson just passed on. She knew my Dad before they both moved into their newly built houses in Wickliffe from the Collinwood area of Cleveland years ago. Her husband Bill passed on in the early 90's. To me, for lack of better words and no disrespect to him, he was sort of gruff but a hard worker, a provider and a outdoors man. I enjoyed my conversations with him and hearing his talk of the coal mines, hunting and where he came from in St. Clairsville. As for Mrs. Henderson though she was 84 it was shocking as she was still very bright, active, traveling, and her passing came suddenly with no warning at 4 am. I will miss the neatly wrapped little packages of her baking in aluminum foil she would send over to me. They were good neighbors.

June and her ex boyfriend

This is a feel good story. Mom Robbay, Bruce's mom, went to Iowa as she normally does about once a year to visit family. While visiting, her first boyfriend called the house looking for her, she happened to be out. She didn't return the call while over there but pondered it and decided to when she got home. Mom Robbay is so glad she did. Dale was her boyfriend when she was 15. According to her she broke his heart with their break up and soon after got married. Dale had NO clue she was in town when he called. His wife had recently passed on and he got to thinking of June (Mom Robbay). He opened up the phone book and started calling Plummers which I thought she meant plumbers and he was looking to get his pipes fixed. Anyways, they are having such a good time reconnecting and remembering the past. He is about 80 and last week he sent her flowers. How sweet! Ain't that a wonderful story?

Nick calling

Just because someone doesn't call you constantly or see you every week doesn't make that person any less of a friend. For instance my friend Nick is such a case. We don't have a lot in common other than attending the same church and he worked for me. But he is a super nice guy and he never loses touch with me. Every so often he calls and says its been awhile lets do supper. Its his way of keeping the friendship in tact. I know our friendship is secure and just because we don't hang out weekly doesn't make it any less.

Or like John

The same thing with John from Maine. He was traveling through Ohio and emailed asking if possible could we meet up? I missed his call when he got in town so never met him. Its unfortunate but at least we tried to connect and that means just as much as if we did.

Two Deaths

This is sobering and makes one think. Last week while Allen and Mary tried to get on Rt 2 it was blocked. Allen found out later that a man attempted to run across the freeway and was struck by a car and killed. Tuesday morning about 5 am returning from work with Allen on Rt 8 the west bound lanes were closed. A motorcyclist lost control and was killed. Hmmmmm.

Cara

Cara, as some of you may remember, I sent out a prayer request for a few months back, wrote a few days ago with this report - I am in remission!! The latest scan was negative which is positive for her - there was no evidence of thyroid cancer!!

Jeff

An update about Jeff and his battle with leukemia. He also is in remission but lately he hasn't' felt the best. So keep him in your prayers.

The reoccuring theme of this email is something I have touched on many times before. If someone is on your mind, contact the person, they may be thinking of you and never take for granted that that someone will be around forever. And also this email should make you ponder where you are going after you leave here.

Mom would get so mad and reprimand me as a child when I would talk back to her. She would say.... you have all the answers. My reply.. of course I do otherwise you wouldn't ask. This has carried on in my adult life as I have an opinion about everything. At times I tend to miss the mark in trying to relay my thoughts verbally but in writing, which is a passion, I seldom miss the mark of what I am trying to convey.

I write frequently for the Lake Gop, I am also in the process of adding a blog to my website, which showcases my travels. I have contributed small articles to The Lake County News Herald. People have asked if I would write bios for their on line sites. I have folders filled with short stories I have written that someday will be edited into book form.

The first step in expanding my horizons was attending a class held by Author Mark Barnes (The League and An Ordinary, Happy Man) who led me to this site. My style covers all areas, politics, human interest, sports, travel, to the absurd and funny.
