If you give your child a small glass pitcher he'll ask you for some pancakes so he can pour his own syrup. When you make the pancakes, he'll need a step stool to watch. He'll want to use the spatula, so you put his freshly baked pancakes onto a cutting board. He scoops them up with the spatula and puts them on his plate. Then he remembers the syrup, so you put just enough in his pitcher for one serving so he can't pour too much. Seeing the baskets makes him want to play basketball. He runs to the front door. You tell him he has to wear his coat outside, so you lay it outside down on the floor and show him how to put his "toes to the tags". He bends over, puts both hands in the arm holes and flips his coat over his head. He lets you start the zipper, but insists on pulling it to the top.

He carries his cup full of birdseed out to the feeder. You set the bird feeder on the ground so he can fill it. Then you prune your flowers while he happily makes multiple trips until the feeder is full. You check the garage for any mess.
