Our world and everything within it including our soul, flows to the simply natural universal patterns found Nature's cycles. When we align ourselves to these cycles, it helps us to reset our course and refresh our souls. It helps me to connect myself to the natural rhythms of the universe. Reminding me to align to these natural rhythms of yin/yang, as expressed in the cycles of day and night, as well as, in the season to season, my life is enhanced. Often my busy life can be quite the juggling act, but learning to go with the flow of the seasonal shifts can make a significant positive difference. Working with nature, instead of against it, makes me feel I'm working smarter, not harder.

Each season contains a certain rhythm that reminds me how to live in balance with nature. In order to become connected to these rhythms the Chinese developed the 5 elements, which provide valuable information related to seasons of the year. The elements of water, wood, fire, earth and metal correspond to the seasons. An additional brief season between summer and autumn is introduced in many Eastern teachings, which explains how the 5 elements work with our western view of only 4 seasons. What is springtime about?

Spring is the time of the year that is bursting forth of the new growth and awakening of your new desires that arise from the winter's rest and renewal. It is also a time of new beginnings and of balance. The spring equinox is a shift in balance of day and night and as the equinox gets closer and closer to its arrival of near perfect equilibrium. There is a very strong and sudden movement in the scales that brings an apart new change. With that new balance, there is also point of chaos. This new alignment is often a sudden shift that can leave us feeling wobbly and unsure of our step- or that the rug is being pulled out from under us. You may, or will soon start to, experience significant energetic shifts over the next several weeks as the spring's explosive energy often brings. To the key is to ground your energy each and every day. Send those grounding cords from the soles of your feet and tailbone into the center of the earth. You can also ground by getting outdoors and taking a walk or hike.

Spring is a time of new beginnings. It is the time to plant the seeds of our dreams and to nourish the soil (the activities) that will support our goals. The element of wood energy becomes dominant- its energy moves downward and upward like the first saplings of green plants. It is a time of explosion. As we begin to see the world awakening from its slumbering sleep into a re-awakening of life, the colors green and other bright jewel tones of spring's flowers are all around. It is a time of regeneration. To take part of this energy, add visible signs of progress and vitality into your home by repainting a wall, repairing a broken chair or by substituting the winter's colors with accent colors of the various shades of greens or other bright jeweled colors found in the spring's buds. Create a feeling of freshness as you open the doors and window, allowing the seasonal winds to dance lightness into your environments. As you spring clean, store away the items of winter and replace them with a tall cylinder shaped vase (springs' energy is characterized by this shape) filled with fresh tall stemmed flowers and watch the magic of creativity and productivity take hold.

Here are three suggestions to bring in the energy of spring. 1. Cleaning is a blessing. Cleaning conveys a spiritual connotation, the root of the word clean suggest purity which is connected to a ceremony of anointing with oil. So when you are spring cleaning you are blessing your home. You are encouraging the life of the home to wake up and greet you in a newly aligned way.

2. Let go! Whether it is extra layers of blankets, rugs, pillows or old habits and outdated beliefs make room for the new growth. Go to each area of your home and have 3 bags or boxes available. One: for fix broken items /throw away, two, a give away box to give to charity and three: items to store away for next winter.

3. Plant new seeds. Just like a garden, spring is the perfect time to plant those new seeds of your desires/goals/dreams. Ask yourself what has begun to grow this New Year that I want to work on harvesting in my life? Make a list of these and steps as to how to bring them into fruition on your calendar.
