แต่พอข้าพเจ้าเป็นวัยรุ่น บรรดานักวิชาการสุขภาพก็เริ่มประกาศความมีพิษภัย ของน้ำมันหมูและน้ำมันมะพร้าว โดยโฆษณาชุดแรกๆ ก็เน้นที่ความไม่เป็นไข (แข็งตัว) เมื่ออุณหภูมิเย็นตัวลง ของน้ำมันพืชผ่านกรรมวิธี เมื่อเทียบกับน้ำมันหมูและน้ำมันมะพร้าว โดยโฆษณาเน้นเรื่อง คอเลสเตอรอล ให้คนดูตระหนักถึงปัจจัยเสี่ยงต่อสุขภาพเรื่อง โรคหลอดเลือดและหัวใจ

ด้วยความใสซื่อและอ่อนต่อโลก จึงคิดไม่ถึงว่า งานวิจัยเรื่องน้ำมันพืชนั้นมีผลประโยชน์แอบแฝง เพราะทั้งน้ำมันหมูและน้ำมันมะพร้าว จะไม่มีวันจับตัวเป็นไขในร่างกายคนได้ เพราะอุณหภูมิสูงภายในมนุษย์สูงกว่า ๒๕ องศาเซลเซียส ไม่ว่าอากาศภายนอกจะหนาวเย็นเพียงใด (ที่ขั้วโลกเหนือและใต้ อุณหภูมิร่างกายคนก็อยู่ที่ ๓๕-๓๗ องศาเซลเซียส

แต่ข้าพเจ้ากลับป่วยก็ด้วยอาการของโรคต่อมลูกหมากโต โรคไตและแผลเบาหวานทั้งๆ ที่ น้ำตาลในเลือดหลังอดอาหาร ๘ ชั่วโมงเพียง ๙๐ หน่วย ข้าพเจ้าโชคดีที่พบผู้รู้และยาแก้ ข้าพเจ้าก็อดทนกินยาสมุนไพรตำรับต่างๆ จนเกือบหายสนิท
