Article marketing is rightfully known as the original guerrilla-style online marketing. This fits the qualifications of "guerrilla marketing" -- namely

(1) low cost, and (2) effective.

In this article, I'll explain how you can significantly increase your exposure and traffic to your website by using article marketing.

People are often overwhelmed when they consider doing article marketing. The reason is it seems like a lot of work to write all those words! Well, it turns out that your articles don't have to be long involved treaties on whatever topic you are sharing information about. In fact, the most effective articles are concise and easy to read, and if you have a very long article, you are better off breaking it down into digestible sections and publishing each as an independent article. This makes it much easier on your audience! If fact most online articles are somewhere between 4-8 paragraphs, and many sites have a minimum word count of 250 words, which is normally about 4 paragraphs. So, don't feel overwhelmed, it's less work than you may think!

In order to make it easy on yourself to get started, make a list of 10 article topics. These can be specific topics of interest in your industry. For example, if you're a florist and you want to share information about flowers and planting, you could write one article about "tulips", another about "how to properly plant a rose bush", another about "where to find the best quality plants"... so as you can see, there are literally thousands of possible article topics within any given niche!

The next step is just to get started... think of a few key points of interest about your first article topic, and those can be your paragraph topics. And, with online articles, your paragraphs only need to be about 2-4 sentences. Remember, you're not creating the Encyclopedia Britannica here! As of this point in this article for example, I am already at 361 words!

Finally, make sure your article stays on topic as described in your Article Title. Don't make the article a sales pitch or a marketing piece. The idea is to share information about which you are an expert, and if people want to come to you for more detailed information or opinions, then they can find you using the information in the bio section (Author section) immediately following the article. Which brings me to my final tip -- Don't forget to add a compelling bio and your website or blog address so folks know where to find you!
