For those who are new to feng shui, it is the ancient Chinese art of placement - arranging or decorating the space to achieve harmony. There are several different schools of feng shui and it can be a complex topic with many different "cures". But we are going to keep it simple here and talk about some basic decorating ideas on incorporating art and feng shui into your environment.

Its said that feng shui has an effect on health, wealth, and personal relationships, by placing specific symbols in certain areas of a room where it creates positive energy and helps bring well-being and prosperity to the occupants. But feng shui isn't all about crystals, wind chimes, and a bunch of knick-knacks... in fact, any form of art work (paintings, photographs, prints, sculpture, glass, ceramics, etc.) can act as a feng shui "cure" and enhance the energy of that space when used according to feng shui principles.

Art work transforms the ambiance or "feeling" of a room. The impressions we receive from art effects us on a subconscious level positively or negatively whether we realize it or not. So when you are looking at the wall art in your home or office decor, ask yourself how the artwork makes you feel? Inspired, happy, sad, indifferent? The idea is to live with art that appeals to you. If an art piece no longer fits your lifestyle, your d cor, or your goals and aspirations in life, then remove it, and replace it with art that does fit. The most commonly sought after feng shui cures are for attracting wealth and abundance, attracting love, and creating a more relaxing environment. Abundance is often symbolized by clean clear water, but can also be symbolized by images of food, gold, antique coins, and sailing ships full of cargo, as well as certain plants and animals. Any type of wall art that represents one of those images would be a good choice to activate the wealth area of your room.

Flowers symbolize positive energy like love, joy, and romance - so to attract more love or romance into your life decorate your space with some contemporary framed floral prints or an original floral painting. We recommend you go with vivid and beautiful artwork as opposed to dried flowers since the dried (dead) flowers would have the opposite effect of what you're trying to achieve.

If like most of us, you need less stress and more calming energies, then consider adding some black and white photographs of natural objects to your d cor. Nature tends to evoke a sense of peace and tranquility especially in today's hectic world.
