Taking a second chance on love requires a great deal of courage. Love is a hard thing to fail at. When we do, for all the reasons we do, it takes a long time to heal our hearts and be ready to love again. While hopefully we've become a bit wiser in the intervening time, but often, we get a little nervous and less willing to jump back into life with a full heart.

Well, Spring is having nothing to do with that. Getting married in the Springtime allows you to frame your courageous decision to take another chance within context of Spring's abundance. You want to use metaphors as you develop your wedding ceremony for your exciting second marriage. You want to develop small rituals to celebrate those metaphors to use in your ceremony and during your wedding reception and to surround your wedding vows. The more you tie your wedding vows to a metaphor, the greater the success of your vows. Isn't that crazy? But it's true. Why? Well, metaphors lodge somewhere deep in our psyche, so they become more real for us. Every time we see a reminder of that metaphor, we remember everything associated with it. Life is difficult but Love, just like the sun, returns to warm your heart and transform your life. You could illustrate this with a melting heart of ice: melting into a sea of love. The Cycle of Renewal: The seasons of the Heart as the seasons of the year are cyclical. In fact, the seasons of the heart are spiral, which means that at each turn of the season we get wiser. We take advantage more quickly of the things that we know work. A water plant whose roots are visible might be a great way to talk about love growing despite the winter cold. Abundance: For all we believe when love ends that joy is limited and deceptive. Spring reminds us, just as this new love reminds us that Love bursts forth and flourishes in the most unlikely of places. Be prolific in your use of spring seasons to celebrate the Earth's own tendency towards over-doing it! Wisdom: Part of the spiral of the seasons is the wisdom you acquire about where to plant your love so that it will flourish. Use small pots of plants both vegetable and floral to illustrate that love must nourish as well as adorn.

Use any of these metaphors and their illustrations and you give your love something to recognize and take root in. Next time you see ice melting or roots turning, you will remember what you promised one another in your wedding vows, what flowers you used in your wedding ceremony, and your marriage will be strengthened.
