Does the kiss really bond lovers as one? Or is emphasis on Magic of the Kiss an exaggeration?

Let me tell you my story. I met a wonderful man. He was kind, compassionate, handsome, a good provider, and loved children. Looking back, I remember I didn't really like his kisses, but I was so lucky to have found such a good man. I mean, how lucky could a girl get? And besides, he had so many fine qualities that I married him any way. I mean in the overall scheme of things, how important is the kiss?

We never bonded emotionally.

After marriage, I hated his wet sloppy kisses and avoided them as much as possible. I was young and inexperienced and no one had ever discussed power of the kiss with me. My mother hadn't. My friends hadn't. My spiritual counselor hadn't.

Let me explain why power of the kiss is not trivial. Recent research concludes that a bad kiss can doom a relationship because a woman can't get past a bad kiss. And experience has shown most women that a bad kiss only spells trouble down the road.

Why?

A kiss has a grave impact on women because a soft, slow open-mouth kiss may be the most significant key to unlocking her passion. When she feels the divine sensation of the kiss, she's hooked! That kiss can ignite a flame so rapturous as to make her high to nearly passing out.

That's because a kiss is an intimate touch that expresses more than words ever could, and opens a woman's heart and soul to her man like nothing else can. It is the kiss alone where she feels the intermingling of her heart with this man. It is this caress alone that gives the deep sensation of the two of them joined as one. Kissing is the language of love - the food of love.

Another thought is that the kiss clues us in on whether we are genetically compatible. We women use kissing as a mate- measurement technique, subsequently evaluating mating potential from the chemicals in our partner's saliva and breath for instance. And so forth and so on.... That's the scientific stuff.

All we know is that a kiss is an emotional bonding phenomenon. It connects a man and a woman at their most vulnerable and passionate level for an instant in time that leaves them joined in heart and soul.

In a study published recently by the scientific journal "Evolutionary Psychology," 59 percent of men and 66 percent of women said they've been in the position of being attracted to someone -until they kissed the person. A kiss can be a deal breaker in terms of whether a relationship will flower or flounder.

Now what happens in a relationship that doesn't experience power of the kiss? Well, if the couple doesn't know any better, maybe they'll be companionable. For some couples that's fine, but...
